Rules & Regulations of Edmondstown Golf Club Ladies Section (2024)
1. The Executive shall comprise of the Captain, Vice-Captain, Honorary Secretary,
Honorary Competition Secretary and Honorary Handicap Secretary. The Committee shall consist of the
foregoing Executive and should have up to six further Committee Members (one of whom shall be the
Junior Convenor) all of whom must have been Ordinary or Associate Members for not less than three
years. The Honorary Secretary, Honorary Competition Secretary and Honorary Handicap Secretary
ideally should have previously served on the Committee.
2. A meeting of Past Captains of the Ladies Section – all being current Ordinary or Associate
members – shall be held before the end of October each year, the quorum being 10 of such Past
Captains, to nominate a Vice-Captain for the coming year. Such a candidate should have previously held
a position on the Committee, the nomination must then be ratified at the AGM. The current Captain and the two most recent ex-officio Captains shall nominate an incoming Vice Captain for the following year, in consultation with the Vice Captain. The nominee shall be consulted in advance to allow her name go forward. Any current Ordinary or Associate Past Captain may suggest a person for consideration to the Captain and Ex Officio Captains. The nominated member will then be put forward for election by current Ordinary and Associate female members at the Ladies AGM.
3. All meetings shall be chaired by the Captain, and in her absence by the Vice-Captain, with the
exception of the AGM and the Past Captains Meeting when the Ex Officio shall take the chair.
4. Two members should retire each year from the committee and shall not be eligible for
re-election until one year after retirement, the only exception being if they are nominated for an
Executive position. The Honorary Competitions Secretary and Honorary Secretary may hold the same office for up to three years after which they must retire from
the Committee, it is recommended that the Honorary Handicap Secretary should hold office for at
least two years. The outgoing Captain will automatically become Ex Officio for the year following her
captaincy.
5. Nominations for Officers and Committee must be proposed and seconded by two current Ordinary
or Associate members and given in writing to the Honorary Secretary at least fourteen days prior to
the AGM. The nomination form for the Vice-Captain shall be signed by the Ex-Officio and the current
Captain, or one other past captain.
6. The Committee shall have the power to co-opt a member to fill a vacancy on the Committee at
any time.
7. The Committee shall meet at least 8 times per year, the quorum being six.
8. Minutes of all Committee meetings shall be taken. The names of those present and decisions and
resolutions taken shall be recorded.
9. The AGM shall be held in January of each year. The quorum for any General Meeting shall be
twenty-five Ordinary or Associate members of the Section. Only Ordinary and Associate members of
more than one year and fully paid up are eligible to vote in elections and for or against motions.
10. These regulations may only be modified by a meeting of Past Ladies Captains and must then be
presented to the Ladies section members at a general meeting for ratification by those eligible to
vote as per Regulation 9 above.
These Rules and Regulations are subject to the Constitution and Regulations including Byelaws of
Edmondstown Golf Club Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). In case of conflict in respect of these
Rules and those of Edmondstown Golf Club CLG, the Rules of Edmondstown Golf Club shall prevail.
